We started the session with a quick recap of week #1 and the program.
Then everyone picked a word that started with the first letter of your name that had to do with movement. For example we had Running Riki, Horseback Riding Harriet and Shaking Shari.
Next we got everyone up and did a silly shake-it-out exercise that has you shake out every part of your body and increasingly go faster and faster to get the blood flowing. Physical activity can help calm nerves in addition to being good for your body.
We then discussed different types of movement that you wouldn't think are exercise but actually are. Some examples were playing outside, walking, playing in the snow and climbing a tree.
We discussed how moving can motivate our minds even if in modest amounts. Healthy body + Healthy mind = Healthy Life.
It was great seeing those of you that joined us on Sunday for our weekly check-in! Everyone who attended got 15 points! We started the session with a quick recap of week #1 and the program. Then everyone shared their successes and struggles for the past week. People also shared resources like an exercise bike and fitness app that will be linked to our resource page in the coming days. Our writing prompt was to draw what movement meant to you. We discussed what things constituted movement. We reminded everyone that movement and exercise looked different to everyone. Starting slow and finding things that are fun is important. It is normal for your body to be sore because it is changing as you progress. However, it is important to know your body and it should not cause extreme pain. We explored what motivated us and how it is important to understand what makes you want to do better and get moving.
We watched a fun video with James Corbin and Mark Wahlberg that showed everyone is different and if you try different things you will find what works and doesn't work for you.
